Bike Parts and Cost of Owning a Mountain bike
Once you’ve bought your new bike, you may never put your cheque book away again! The list of bike parts and components you’ll start looking at is practically endless, and you’ll always want to add new parts or replace or upgrade old ones. For this reason it makes sense, even if you don’t buy your bike from your local bike shop, to make contact with it. These shops are invariably run by bike fanatics who have a wealth of knowledge to share with like-minded cycle-addicts.
Children are highly competitive when it comes to possessions and practically from their first tricycle, they will want to have all the latest parts their friends have. Whether this is a colourful Mickey Mouse bell or the latest BMX saddle, they will soon let you know about it. But bike parts for serious adult riders enter a different realm.
The type of bike you buy and the subsequent components and parts you need for it, will depend on the type of riding you want to do. When you take up biking seriously, you’ll soon know what you need and will begin to rebuild your bike. For mountain bike parts, you may want to change the handlebars, pedals, saddle and seat post first; while for racing bikes, your aim is likely to be to shed weight wherever possible, going for lighter and lighter parts to increase speed. One thing is for sure, the better you maintain it, the better your bike will serve your needs. After all, a new bike isn’t just for Christmas!
